Willsmere has again been invited to participate in Open House Melbourne on Sat+Sun, July 27+28. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to raise the profile of Willsmere, build community spirit, and fulfill our heritage obligations. Volunteers are needed to host the tours. This involves a minimum commitment of 2 consecutive tours with a 20 minute break. Visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7HSVV89 to check the details and volunteer. The rewards of being a volunteer are many: Meet fascinating visitors, many of whom have personal connections to Willsmere; Meet fellow neighbours; Learn about the rich history and architecture of Willsmere; Earn priority access to some OHM buildings; Have fun! This year we will also have a coffee/snack van at the front for anyone to use. Our participation involves Willsmere volunteers escorting tour groups of 17 following a printed guide and speakers notes. Tours are pre-booked by OHM and commence every half hour between 10am and 3:30pm each day from the main entrance, with each tour taking 30-40 minutes. It is a lot of fun, so join in, learn and enjoy!

One of the projects for the past few Committees of Management has been investigating solar power options for Willsmere. This is a large project and will take some time. Any solar installation, whether residential or commercial, or somewhere in between like Willsmere, needs to be installed such that power cables can run back to the main power intake for the property.  In the case of Willsmere, this is located near the bluestone cells. Solar panels could be installed on carport roofs and due to new technologies they will be low profile and not require any scaffolding to angle them appropriately.  This means they should not be unsightly or block any views.
