The pilot program to collect soft plastics in recycling has ended and VISY will not be accepting soft/flexible plastics. Examples of soft/flexible plastics are plastic bags, cling wrap, bread and pasta bags, frozen food bags, cereal box liners, biscuit packs (not including the trays), confectionery bags and bubble wrap. Recyclable items being thrown out in plastic bags is the number one cause of recycling bin contamination in Boroondara. Items placed in a plastic bags do not get sorted or recycled - they go to landfill. Place recyclabes in LOOSE.
You can still recycle soft plastics by dropping them off at a REDcycle collection point at Coles or Woolworths supermarkets.
