As most already know, a VCAT hearing was held last year about the Willsmere bus service, which found that a Special Resolution should have been passed to start a new bus service and since this had not occurred the service must be terminated as soon as allowable under the contract. The contract end date is unclear but appears to be April 2020.

The Willsmere Owners Corporation has been working on this issue and trying to plan the best way forward while avoiding incurring further legal costs. In the process, we have recently obtained information that indicates that termination of the contract should be possible at the end of the end of this school term, April 5, 2019.

As of this time, we still do not have a firm idea of if/when the bus will be discontinued, but it seems likely. We will update with further information as it comes to light, but we all felt it was  better to give as much warning as possible rather than waiting until we had a final verdict.

The most likely next course of action is that a Special Resolution will be drafted as soon as possible to determine if there is support to establish a bus service. Meanwhile, users of the bus, or their parents/guardians, should plan alternative transport.

Willsmere is a fantastic and passionate community, which is part of what makes it so great to live here. This has always been a heated topic so please remember we are all friends and neighbours and we need to keep debate around this topic as civil as possible.
